U.S.-Vietnam Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Commercial Dialogue Working Group Meeting

The U.S.-Vietnam Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) Commercial Dialogue was launched in September 2007 in Hanoi. The Dialogue is co-chaired by the International Trade Administration (ITA) and the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) with participation from other agencies and ministries, as well as U.S. and Vietnamese companies and associations in the ICT sector.

ITA and MIC agreed to form a Working Group under the Dialogue to facilitate cooperation in areas such as advancing telecommunications infrastructure, protecting software IPR, enhancing network security, developing IT skills and training programs, addressing data privacy issues for electronic commerce, and facilitating electronic government.

WORKING GROUP MEETING

On November 13, 2008, ITA held a Working Group meeting with a delegation from Vietnam led by MIC that visited Washington, D.C. As part of the meeting, the two governments listened to recommendations from U.S. companies of the Business Advisory Group. The full report is available here.

ICT HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING ROUNDTABLE

On November 14, 2008 ITA hosted a Roundtable at the Department of Commerce focusing on how to develop ICT skills and training programs, an area under the Dialogue in which U.S. companies doing business in Vietnam have taken a keen interest.
