Customs, Taxes, and Documentation Requirements: IT Products and Services Imports
In winter 2003, the Office of Information Technologies and E-Commerce and the Trade Information Center surveyed Commerce Department/Commercial Service offices worldwide about their host country's customs, tax, and other procedures related to IT product and services imports in order to provide updated information to U.S. IT exporters. Information received covers:
Software: duty and tax treatment for physical shipments, document requirements, updates, licenses, electronic shipments
IT services: tax treatment and other regulations
Hardware: policies regarding imports of refurbished, used, and repaired equipment.
For information about exporting IT products and services from the United States, see this separate set of FAQs.
