Business opportunity for water valves, pipes,
meters and hydrants in Ecuador
The $100 million Mica-Quito Sur water project, financed with an Inter-American Development Bank loan, includes the construction of a water and sewage distribution network. The construction of one section of the distribution has been awarded to the Consorcio Leonardo Armijos & Jorge Cueva, a local construction company.
This project creates a business opportunity for $300,000 for U.S. suppliers of the following equipment:
Steel pipe: (coated), approximately 6,186 meters; with a diameter of 14” and 18”, 7 mm thick.
Steel pipe: (not coated), approximately 1,614 meters; with a diameter of 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”, 10”, 12” 14”, 16”, and 18”, 7 mm thick.
Mechanical unions: approximately 818 units; for steel pipe; class 125; with a diameter of 14”, 16”, and 18”.
Unions: approximately 2,279 units; with a diameter of 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12”.
Gate valves: approximately 117 units; class 125, with a diameter of 02”, 03”, 04” 06”, 08”, 10”, 12” 14”, and 18”. The body of the valves must be cast carbon steel, with screw, double disc, solid bronze and seals of stainless material. Note: there is local manufacture of gate valves. However, meeting the delivery time frame will pose a problem for local valve manufacturers.
Hydrants: approximately 137 units; class 125, including unions for network, with a diameter of 03” and 04”. Hydrants must have dry interior body for a diameter of 3”, 4.
Little hydrant: 1 unit, 2” diameter, with unions for network.
Water meters: approximately 3,836 units; speed type; multiple flow; magnetic transmission; stm 2, ½”, 3/4”, 1”, and 2”. Meters couplings with one end with flange and the other threaded.
