El Salvador’s Earthquake-Damaged Water Pipe Network in Need of Repair
The earthquake which devastated El Salvador on January 13, 2001 damaged the country’s drinking water piping network. The piping systems in the metropolitan area of the capital, San Salvador, has been fixed, although the piping network in the rest of the country is severely damaged. According to local press reports, repairing the network will cost an estimated 6 million.
ANDA, the national water utility and regulator, uses cement, PVC and iron pipes in its network. U.S. companies which manufacture and supply water pipes and are interested in learning more about potential opportunities to bid on reconstruction projects should contact ANDA at the following address:
