Personal Information Received From the EU: Acurian, Inc.'s mission is to accelerate the launch of clinical trials for companies in the biopharmaceutical industry. As such, Acurian, Inc. collects and compiles self-reported health information and other personal information from individuals who express an interest in learning more about ongoing clinical drug trials and new drug therapies.
In the EU, this information is gathered at a central call center (currently in Ireland), from which it is compiled and transmitted electronically to a database in the United States, currently resident in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Where there is an appropriate match between self-reported health information and ongoing clinical trials, or when new information become available about therapeutic conditions, Acurian Inc. uses the self-reported information to identify appropriate recipients of the information, and transmits the information to them. When there is an appropriate match between self-reported health information and ongoing clinical trials, Acurian, Inc. passes the self-reported health information to physicians conducting the clinical trials, who will then establish contact with the individual. This disclosure is made clear to the individual providing the information at the time the information is collected.

In addition, Acurian, Inc. is compliant with TRUSTe's privacy guidelines, and is awaiting any revision to those guidelines that may result from TRUSTe's recent merger with Hi-Ethics prior to seeking certification thereunder.

Dispute Resolution: Individuals are first encouraged to contact Acurian, Inc. directly with any concerns or complaints. During the initial call to the call center, the Customer Service Representative (CSR) first seeks authorization from the subject to include the subject's personal information in the database. Those who so consent are then advised that they may contact Acurian, Inc. via a toll-free telephone number. Visitors to Acurian, Inc.'s website are instructed likewise, via Acurian, Inc.'s Privacy and Security Policy. Internet users may also contact Acurian, Inc. via e-mail.
When Acurian, Inc. receives a complaint or concern regarding the privacy of individual health information, the Chief Privacy Officer will direct the investigation of the complaint/concern. Acurian, Inc. is dedicated to providing timely response to any concern.
Nonetheless, Acurian, Inc. recognizes that the initial resolution may not be satisfactory to some individuals. Therefore, Acurian, Inc. is committed to cooperating with the Data Protection Authorities (DPAs). In the event that a complaint is escalated to the DPAs, Acurian, Inc. will cooperate with the investigation and resolution of such complaints. Acurian, Inc. is firmly committed to ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to comply with Safe Harbor Principles, including appropriate remedial or compensatory measures in response to instances of non-compliance with the Principles. In the event that such measures are necessary, Acurian, Inc. will provide the DPAs with written confirmation of such action.
