Free Trade Agreements

The U.S. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) allow U.S. textile and apparel manufacturers to enter and compete more easily in the global marketplace. These agreements eliminate or reduce tariff rates, improve intellectual property regulations, open government procurement opportunities, ease investment rules, and much more. In general, the agreements help level the international playing field and encourage foreign governments to adopt open and transparent rulemaking procedures, as well as non-discriminatory laws and regulations.

This website provides textile/apparel/footwear/travel goods-specific information and is primarily designed to assist U.S. textile and apparel manufacturers gain the full benefit from the U.S. FTAs. Chose an FTA on the left sidebar to access the specific agreement information, as described below.

Summary of the Agreement—Summaries of the main textile/apparel provisions of the agreements can help you determine how to gain most benefits for your company.

Agreement Text and Documents—The actual text of the Agreement and supporting documents should always be reviewed before making important business decisions.

Special Procedures—Several of the FTAs have special procedures or provisions linked to agreement benefits (i.e., commercial availability, safeguards). Also check for notifications of information requests, hearings, and decisions.
